Success is many things and there are many people who will sell their soul, their family and their authenticity to achieve the type of success they think will satisfy them, but they only end up exhausted in the endless pursuit of happiness.
Success is remaining true to my calling and being my authentic woman.
Staying true to God by inhabiting His character in my ideals, values and mores in spite of how others choose to live in our society is success.
When I can stand in the face of evil having an inner attitude that has been infused with the Holy Spirit’s wisdom, discernment, and sensitivity, not becoming swayed to follow those ways, then the God in me has become successful in being who rules and reigns my inner realm.
My identity is as a woman of God and my choices directly reflect who I am, what I value and how I choose to live my life. My choices are integrally related to nurturing my spirituality and lifestyle as a Christian.
Success is not found in gaining of materialistic possessions, acquiring a hefty bank account, title or position. These are all temporal and can provide no lasting happiness, meaning or give reason or purpose in living.
Success is when I am giving myself in service to my God and following the direction and leading of the Holy Spirit in adhering to spiritual principles to help guide my direction in life.
I am being successful when I am serving beyond my own needs as I have found lasting satisfaction in offering mercy, compassion and sincere love towards others.
Success is when I can be honest, loyal, lend understanding in the midst of this world’s struggle. Life, meaning and purpose is discovered in being present in the suffering of another in their time of need.
When I am fulfilling my true identity and intended purpose of living, then I am being successful, for I am adhering to the call of God upon my life.
I have discovered lasting inner joy and contentment in the pursuit of God, seeking His ways of being and centering my body, soul and spirit in the union of fellowship with Him.
It is the Spirit of God whom completes me and provides full satisfaction in my life.
This life is about being loving in the midst of cruel acts being carried out by others. It is about being present with others in their suffering, lifting them up in being the attentive caring needed in this world.
When I am Becoming the change needed in our society and promoting faith as a holistic lifestyle and one that in intricately intertwined in my union with God, being His heart of genuine love among All people groups, then this is the success I am about.
I share the following story with you today, for this to me, is being successful person in life.
“There was a story going around about the Special Olympics. For the hundred-yard dash, there were nine contestants, all of them so-called physically or mentally disabled.
All nine of them assembled at the starting line and, at the sound of the gun, they took off. But one little boy didn’t get very far. He stumbled and fell and hurt his knee and began to cry. The other eight children heard the boy crying.
They slowed down, turned around, and ran back to him–every one of them ran back to him. The little boy got up, and he and the rest of the runners linked their arms together and joyfully walked to the finish line.
They all finished the race at the same time. And when they did, everyone in the stadium stood up and clapped and whistled and cheered for a long, long time.
And you know why?
Because deep down we know that what matters in this life is more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too, even if it means slowing down and changing our course now and then.”
