The issue concerning healing and those Christians who are demanding that persons’ having chronic illnesses stand in faith to be healed and that when they are not healed the accusations begin to fly as to why. Many say it is due to lack of faith. Many say it is due to unbelief. Many say ‘you’ have sin in your life.
So many Christians thinking they know why someone does not have healing really has to do with a judgmental attitude and neglects the very fact Christ teaches love as a priority in all we think, say and do. This debate has been going on as long as I have been a Christian, over 40 years and I am sure it will go on until the end of time.
I see the whole issue as one that is bringing division and rejection instead of embracing and loving. Anything that divides is not of God, for God’s love unites. Did not Jesus say the greatest commandment is to love?
The response to persons God chooses to not heal, who must walk in the adversity of chronic long-term medical issues, is that we as the body, are to love first and all the time, regardless of weather a person is healed, walking alongside them, supporting, praying, encouraging, being the bride Christ has called us to become.
We are to be the compassionate caring of the Christ Spirit and many fail to be so when having such a harsh attitude towards this healing stuff. Christians who are choosing to demand that others be healed in their declaring attitude, are pointing fingers, throwing insults, and causing deep emotional harm to the ones at the receiving end of their judgments.
God’s spirit seeks unity and draws us as a body nearer to Him when we seek to desire the best for our brothers and sisters in Christ. I have nothing against praying for others to receive healing, but then when they do not become healed, it is not up to us to begin judging and condemning as this is not the Spirit Life, but rather it is the enemy using this as a way to divide, while causing harsh rejection by those having to endure long-term illness.
Does not Jesus Christ teach the greatest commandment is to love? It does in my bible and I do not read anything biblical in regards to being carriers of these harsh rejecting attitudes by pastors/leaders and Christians who harbor anger, bitterness and resentment towards those ‘not receiving’ their physical healing.
This judgmental attitude has to stop, It is crushing and destroying people’s lives and only adds to a person already suffering the additional agony of receiving dismissiveness, rejection, harshness, and cruel treatment by the many Christians who walk in this name it claim it mentality, including many pastors and leaders who are promoting this philosophy in their churches who are failing to include the loving part of the gospel.
These attitudes are bred from the flesh as it does not prioritize a loving gracious faith. It promotes an ‘us’ and ‘them’ segregation of the body. It is divisive and a tool of the enemy.
All those preaching and practicing healing and being dismissive of promoting the entire gospel, which prioritizes love, is deceived, blinded by another attitude which is far removed from the new heart the Spirit of God infused within us and in whose character we are to become, clothing ourselves in His righteousness as we have none of our own.
Those who walk not in love are not of Christ. Whenever any other attitude takes precedence over love when interacting with other persons, it is darkness, it is evil, it is of the flesh, it is not Godly or Holy.
Many people will refuse this understanding, but I am not responsible for judging others as that is Gods role. I live not to please any person, including pastors, leaders, authors, teachers, etc.
I live to please my Father God and it is the entire gospel that I seek to live out, not just selectively picking and choosing those parts I like. There is a balanced sense of wellbeing when we walk according to the light in reaching towards others with God Hearts. Our Father’s Heart is embracive towards everyone as there is not one person that He desires to perish, for He gave His son so that All might come to an intimate entering into His true love for them.
My role is to love in all situations, whether in sickness or health, whether in life or death, whether I understand it or not, I am to love and Love is to be preeminent in all my relationships.
“In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous.” 1 John 3:10-12
Christians, including myself could benefit from reading and meditating on 1 Corinthians 13 each day and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us areas we are missing the boat on loving.
“Though I speak with tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:1- 3
“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
Faith is activated by love, so the fact people are not getting healed may have something to do with an attitude of those who are demanding healing who are lacking this love element.
There is more to 1 Corinthians 13 and I encourage all of us to read and place our heart attitudes before the only judge who is righteous and who has the final authority in our lives, whether are being loving or not.
When we come before Jesus at the end of our mortal lives, only those acts, those deeds, those teachings done from a sincere attitude and motivation of love will remain. All flesh acts will be burned, will not pass through, will be rubbish.
Anyone who is teaching, having something to prove, having an agenda, or directing their preaching at certain persons, are not speaking from God’s Heart. They are merely speaking from their own human heart as God’s agenda is loving and He has the best in store for those who place Him above everything in this life.
Nothing done from our own conscience, our own desires, our own methods will survive in the end. Nothing coming from our human flesh will last, it will be burned in the Holy Presence of the Godhead in which we will receive from Him our just reward, based on those things we have accomplished that have been motivated by a genuine and sincere love for others.
So, all those without sin, without having any wrong attitude, without ever having wronged anyone, cast the first stone towards all those who are living with chronic mental and/or physical health conditions.
I fail in my own strength, in my own mind, in my own flesh to be loving as this is an impossible human feat to attain to the type of pure Love that God pours into us, so it is only in and by His love can I have any real love towards anyone.
Thus, the daily practicing of the disciplines of my faith are vital. The daily submission, the daily willingness, the daily desire to be love, and the daily bowing to my Father’s desire for me is the path I desire to walk in, for it is only in His love can I be anything.
So said The Christ, who grants Mercy to All persons and whose love is the steady presence of our Father, who gave His only son, that in His shed blood, we can be reconciled to this same love and have His Holiness infused into us, so that we could be called the children of God.
As adopted children into the Godhead, we are to emanate love and it is the Christ Spirit who gives us this ability. God’s love is not like human love. God’s love is pure. God’s love is true. God’s love is acceptance. God’s love calls us to live to a higher plane, which is to love in all situations, in all realms, with all persons.
I have not this type of love, so my dependence on the Spirit to continually fill me anew each day is great. I must surrender, in humility, realizing and admitting, I, in my humanness am unable to love as my Father God loves, and it is only by submitting all my inner attitudes to His reign, will His love be who is manifested in and through my life.
This will be a never-ending process of always arriving, but never having arrived to any state of perfection until that day I am ushered into His Glory and the love I have loved with is only what will remain to be carried into my Heavenly dwelling.
