“Awake, Awake, O Zion, clothe Yourselves with Strength. Put on your garments of Splendor, O Jerusalem, the Holy City. The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again. Shake Off your dust; Rise Up, Sit Enthroned, O Jerusalem. Free Yourselves from the chains on your neck, O captive Daughter of Zion.” Isaiah 52:1-2
We who call ourselves Christians are servants of the Most-High God. We serve a Powerful “God who is Able to Do Exceedingly, Abundantly, Above All, that we either ask or think, according to the Power that works in us.” (Ephesians 3:20)
It is time sons and daughters of the Living God, to throw off the dust (your past life, your past way of being) of those things that bind you, and stop bowing down in serving; anger, jealously, greed, pride, selfishness, stubbornness, envy, hate, bitterness, gossip, gluttony, temperamental bouts, or seeking after the approval of others, and stop serving those things that come against you to deter you from abiding in God.
If you are saying to yourself, “I have tried so many times, and it never has worked.” God says to you, ‘Your Past is Not Your Future!’ Your past is gone, stop dwelling in it, quit focusing on it, push it aside, and move forward in God.
In constantly replaying, reviewing; (if only I had done this, or I should have done that, then things would be different) in trying to figure out the why of things, we forget the Who of our present, and that is where the key lies in throwing off those things which keep us bound, those things that war against our souls.
“Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14)
We must actively and intentionally set ourselves towards this action, in pressing in and onward, in order to shake off these things, and take our seat in Christ at the side of our Father. We are Heirs of the Kingdom, given full access to all that God is and has in possessing the land He has given to us!
This land we have been given, is the freedom offered in our hearts to have the new life of His Kingdom, clothing our hearts with His character traits, setting our focus on pursuing Him, drawing near to Him, learning to be in loving union in Him, learning to seek Him in all we are becoming and in all we do.
We are no longer Captives in the life of Christ, but often we live as if we had no choices, as if we are not able to rid ourselves of those fleshly pits that keep dragging us down.
In order to change direction, from a worldly stance to a spiritual focus, we must be purposeful about charting our course to pursue those things of an eternal nature, those things that will draw us towards a Godly hunger and desire.
We hold the key for our own release, from those things binding us, through the choices we make, in giving ourselves over to Him. He is calling us to let go of the struggle, in releasing ourselves to Him, that He may raise us up to walk in and by His Strength by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. When we know the right thing to do, then do it, regardless of how we feel, we are moving towards a life of Obedience and being led by the Spirit.
We no longer are to be led by our emotions. We begin taking steps in saturating ourselves in developing spiritual habits of Faith; reading and meditating on His Word, praying and interceding, worshipping as individuals and in corporate structures, surrounding ourselves with Godly council.
This is a lifelong process of arriving, but never having arrived to any state of perfection, until God calls us home.
It takes time to develop new habits that will change who we are, how we think, and how we live our lives. These habits when disciplined, will assist us in patterning our life away from the entangled webs of lies that are keeping us trapped, in moving us towards spiritual dimensions in heavenly realms of being.
When we come to Christ, we enter into purposefully taking hold of His Power, He has placed within us, to slay those fleshly habits to death, by His Word and in His name, through conscious choice in taking action in stopping ourselves from taking on the world’s culture and attributes, by seeking Him in all we do.
When we know the Word of God, which is our biblical road map, and we act on it, then we are doing the right thing, regardless of what our feelings are telling us.
Exchanging the fleshly tug on our hearts, and giving ourselves over to the Holy Spirit who fills us; leading, teaching, and guiding us in walking in the light to be the ‘church’. We enter into the Spirit’s activity in our lives, fully participating with God as He is moving upon the earth.
“Since you have heard all about him and have learned the truth that is in Jesus, Throw off your old evil nature and your former way of life, which is rotten through and through, full of lust and deception. Instead there must be a spiritual renewal of your thoughts and attitudes. You must display your new nature, because you are a new person, created in God’s likeness-righteous, holy, and true.” (Ephesians 4:22-24)
We must Stand our Ground and Not be Moved in the things of Christ for His Spirit lives in Us and is actively working for our benefit. The Word is our guide and as understanding is revealed to us, we will be able to recognize the deeds of the flesh come in forms that lead us away from God, and we will come to savor those things that lead us into a deeper, more intimate relationship with our Father, for we will obtain a lasting peace, and joy, along with the fruits of the spirit, as the overflow of His life dwelling in us, is manifested.
Therefore, we continue seeking those things that edify, lift up, empower, and embolden us as Spiritual Beings, striving to live for Kingdom values, fixing our attention in pursuing Godly endeavors.
Christ has come to set all of us Free from the heavy yoke of this world, and loose us in the things of Christ. The deeper things He has in store for His children are discovered in seeking His ways, in pursuing those things of a spiritual eternal nature, in digging deeper into His Word, in communing in Him, spending time with Him, in growing intimately nearer to His bosom of Love.
We are no longer bound as slaves chained to our past, for He has come to Set Us FREE, giving us ability to live as our authentic selves, for our Identity is in His righteousness.
We are no longer serving ourselves, living for our desires, desiring our own ways, but we give ourselves over to him, surrendering every level of our attitudes, behaviors, will, mind to Him, allowing His Holy Spirit room to do the radical transformation necessary to change us into God Hearts of caring, compassionate, love towards all! We must learn to grow in our desire to hold nothing back from the Almighty God.
“And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” (Galations 5:24)
We no longer make excuses, justify, or blame others for our way of being and we stop blaming God. We do not refuse to take on the responsibility required for us to change.
Taking on accountability and responsibility means we are moving into the realm where we realize We Have the Ability in Him to respond in taking action in doing the right thing. In our ability to respond, our freedom or lack of it, will depend on the choices we decide to make, for these decisions will determine our present along with the direction for our future life.
When we can come to the place in God, where we can openly admit our wrongs, asking Him to help move us in a spiritual direction, we can actively choose to throw off the sin that so easily besets us and walk as new creations in aligning ourselves with His Will for our lives. We learn to use Godly wisdom, discerning His ways in order to avoid the traps set for us, as we live in and by the Spirit’s leading.
We have an active role in what we put into our minds, what we allow ourselves to watch (movies, TV shows, videos, internet), what things we think about, what we focus on, what we pursue, what activities we participate in, the people we keep company with, and the choices we make, are our own.
We have an active choice on who or what we allow in our lives. We do not have to submit ourselves to those things or people that are negatively influencing us or impacting us in moving us away from our pursuit of Godly endeavors.
We become the consequences of our choices in what and who we allow in participating in our lives, so let us choose wisely, relying on Spiritual discernment in selecting those things and people that will lead us nearer to God in helping us to grow into spiritually mature Christians.
Let us get rid of any lethargy or passiveness and fully allow His Spirit to fan the fire within us into a burning flame of Godliness.
Christ must be everything to us, and we need to surrender and give over every area of our lives to Him; our desires, our attitudes, our prejudices, our lies, our finances, our insecurities, our pride, our stubbornness, our minds, and all the hidden things we want to hold onto, including all those secret places in our hearts, we must be willing to give to Him.
God sees our hearts, He knows us and has chosen us to be His children forever and He has accepted us, wiped clean our past, that we might walk in the Righteousness in Him.
It is Time to Surrender ALL to Him Today. Let go of all your wounds, all your hurts, all your struggles, all your pain, all your anger, all your loneliness, all your questions, all your doubts, and everything that is keeping you from living in Him.
Jesus is reaching His arms to you today.
Ask Christ to give you the strength necessary to be the authentic person He has called you to be. Ask Him to Fill you freshly with His Holy Spirit of Power who gives us the ability to walk in the midst of any challenge this life throws at us.
The authority of God is present in our lives whether we use it or not. God has given us Authority in the name of Jesus to loosen the strongholds in us and in others. We must take our rightful place in Christ at the right hand of God by using this authority in Him in putting to death the deeds of our flesh and in being over comers!
We have been filled with Christ’s Glory, His Mercy, His Compassion, to be a Holy people. Let us so consecrate ourselves to Him, that in Him we may preach, teaching the Truth of the Gospel, that we may walk in the Power of All He has given us, and that we might be His people who show forth Him in all His manifestations.
In all we do, let us give Him honor and glory for His miraculous life which is at work in our mortal bodies!
