Renewed Grace

100_0805She sat on the edge

of the creek’s bed

digging her hiking boot

into soft soil,

almost a mud like mixture

smelling of decomposed leaves and wood.

She sat thinking of her life

as it now remained

somehow stained

in dirt of renewed Grace.

She sat remembering

her deceased son as the water’s

surface glistened.

She sat knowing

life is not a given

nor is it free from sorrow

or pained living.

She sat

hearing the trickle

of water refreshing her mind.

She sat alone

in the woods

serene, nothing but

tall Pines.

She sat

hearing the wind

move water

She sat taking

it all in –

giving her strength

to go on living

at the creek’s edge.
